Summer Sales!

Hello Ladies!
Now if you live in the UK you'll know that these past couples of months have not been great weather-wise! But every (grey) cloud has a silver lining, and there are some amazing Summer sales going on on the High Street at the moment. I just thought I'd show you a couple of things that I picked up yesterday.

The first place I went to was River Island, which is definitely one of my favourite High Street stores. Their sale was crazy! Right next to the front door there were two rails of clothes all priced at £2, £3 and £4, I kept checking the items I picked up thinking I was going to find some marks or a hole but they were spotless. I limited myself to two items due to my wardrobe possibly exploding anytime soon. This is what I chose..

I picked up this white shirt for the bargain price of £4! I really love the brooch/necklace detailing, and I think I'll get lots of wear out of it and you can dress it both up and down.

I also found this collared dress for £3, reduced from £22! I just really love this dusty pink colour at the moment. You can see it styled in an OOTD here.
And lastly I saw these on the little NYX counter, 50p each! Omg I could not say no! They're sheer lipbalms, although the red one has quite a lot of colour and taste just like berries.

If you didn't get a chance to go to River Island, there are still many items available on their website in the sale, and lots for £5!

I also nipped into H&M, and being majorly influenced by the nice weather and ridiculous prices, succumbed to buying some shorts and a playsuit..ooopps!! I'll just have to cross my fingers that this sunny weather continues! Both were £3 each.

Now not very exciting but I'll show you anyway, I got some socks from New Look for £1 each, after all we all need socks!

And lastly I picked up Primark's very own version of the 'Tangle Teezer!' Unfortunately I don't have the original so I can't do a comparison. Although I'm liking it so far and it's definitely making my long hair easier to brush through, and at £1.50 you can't really complain!

Outfit Of The Day 22/07/12

An outfit post actually in the sunshine! Today was lovely and I managed to wear sunglasses and sandals for the first time this month! Yay!

Mini haul

Just a little post of a few things I've purchased over the past couple of weeks. You will probably notice, no clothes! That's because my wardrobe is chock-a-block, and I would be kidding myself if I actually thought I needed any more clothes! However that doesn't mean I can't shop for other things!

One place that I went to was The Body Shop, I love their Vitamin E range and my skin swears by their night cream in the winter months. I thought I'd try out the face mist this time, it's sold as a moisturiser and also a makeup setter. When I  used it the first thing I noticed was that it has gorgeous rose scent and it really refreshes your face. I'm not so big on the make-up setting claim but it definitely does make your face feel a lot more moisturised after spraying. It's a nice little pick up me to have in your bag or whilst on holiday.

I also picked up Revlon's Photoready Airbrush Mousse Makeup, you can check out the review here, and as I had a £5 No7 voucher I also bought their eye make-up remover. I do find it quite oily, it's not the best one on the market, but definitely not the worst, and as I only got it for a quid with my discount I can't complain!

I also bought a few homeware items in the sales, I got a big heart-shaped tin in the Next sale for £4, not quite sure what I'm going to do with it yet, but might use it as make-up/cosmetic storage. I also picked up some sparkly over the door hooks from Matalan, and a white flower candle holder from Wilko which I'm going to use to store my make-up brushes in...speaking of which....

One of my best purchases this week was the Real Techniques Core Collection make-up brushes. They really are worth the hype! They're so soft and the buffing brush is amazing at really getting your foundation to sink into your skin. I also love the fact that the brush holder also turns into a stand! Haha I'm easily pleased!

Revlon Photoready Airbrush Mousse Makeup Review

I bought this yesterday in Boots, I had a £2 off foundation/mascara voucher and wanted to be a bit more adventurous, and purchase something a little different than just your standard liquid foundation. I picked up the lightest colour (020 Shell) I could find being a pale little thing, and it was surprisingly a very good match, usually even the lightest colours in most normal foundation ranges are too dark for me!

Now what lured me to this product the most was the consistency. It's like an air-whipped mousse and comes out of the bottle a little like shaving foam. However A LOT comes out in one press so be careful, as it could get very messy! The foundation itself gives medium coverage I would say, it didn't totally cover some of my blemishes and I had to use extra powder around my problem areas. In addition it contains quite a lot of shimmer, I personally don't mind this because it gives my face a subtle glow, but I know it's not for everyone.

The biggest complaint I have about this product, is that it DOES NOT smell good!! I don't know what it is but it's just not nice, and to think you're going to have that smell close to your nose all day is not very enticing!

I don't think I'd buy this product again, I  do like the concept but I think it's more of a gimmick than a way of actually producing a better foundation.
So I have  now ventured out into the world of mousse foundation, and decided that I'm going to stick with good old liquid, until the next exciting innovation comes along!

The ASOS £100 Blogger Challenge!

Hello!

Just thought I'd let you know of a competition that I came across today on Neeny's blog here. The challenge is being hosted by The Discount Coder's Blog and I've had so much fun taking part. All you have to do is pick an outfit from the ASOS website up to the value of £100, the ladies who run the blog will pick a winner on the 31st July 2012 and the prize will be a lovely £100 ASOS voucher!

Here is the outfit that I chose..

Image 1 of ASOS Shirt
Shirt -£20

Image 1 of Oasis Short With Scallop Hem
 Shorts -£35
Image 1 of Timeless Bead Cuff Flat Sandal
Sandals -£18
Image 1 of ASOS Watch with Mirrored Face and Metallic Strap
Gold Watch -£25

Slightly wishful thinking with the weather we've been having recently, but fingers crossed we will still get a little bit of sa summer! I love the colour and the scalloped edges on the shorts, and the shirt...well I just love shirts! I think that they look really sleek and smart especially when tucked in.  I finished the outfit of with some gold beaded sandals and a simple gold watch.

£20 + £35 + £18 + £25 = £98.

So that leaves £2 spare to get a yummy Pina Colada and laze in the sunshine! (Hopefully!)

Will you be entering this competition? If so let me know what you chose!

These are a few of my favourite rings...

Good Morning!
I just thought I'd show you some of my favourite rings, they're all fairly inexpensive, the top price I think I paid was around £4. I tend to wear one real gold ring all the time and then just mix and match a couple of these to my outfit. I have also been very good recently in taking them off when I put my hands in water, so hopefully no more dreaded grey marks on my fingers!

How I store my cosmetics/jewellery...

This is a fairly recent buy that I bought from Amazon, it's still available here... http://www.amazon.co.uk/METAL-EARRING-NECKLACE-BRACELET-HOLDER/dp/B005IDM1CO/ref=tag_stp_s2_edpp_url for £11.99. I really like the fact that I can hang it up and all my long necklaces are visible and don't get tangled. I used to store them all in a box where I couldn't see them and would just end up buying more and more, so it's also helped curb my jewellery addiction slightly! It's probably not too clear on the photos, but the wire writing in the top row says 'earrings', then 'bracelets' and lastly 'necklaces'. It didn't come with anything to hang it by so I just threaded through a ribbon and tied it in a bow and hooked it onto a nail.

Next is a small jewellery box that I received as a present a few years ago. I just use it to store my smaller stud earrings in the top compartment and extra dangly ones go in the bottom drawer.

I also received this glass holder as a present, but I think that it's originally from Paperchase and I use it to store bracelets and bangles in.

And lastly for jewellery storage I have this cream wire jewellery tree. It doesn't usually stand on the floor, but lives on my shelf, however there wasn't enough decent light to photograph it there. I just think that it's nice to have all your jewellery on show and that they can create a real focal point in a room. I bought this one in Bentall's department store when I lived in Kingston a few years ago, however I've seen quite a few around recently in TK Maxx and Claire's Accessories.

Now on to cosmetics...

I used to store all my creams, hair products, sprays (basically non-make-up items) on the top of my chest of drawers but they were spread out I had no space for anything else. Then I came across this cupcake stand from Homebase and it is the perfect solution. It has created  much more room (I even have space for a vase now!) and I can access all my products really easily and have even used it to store some of my hair accessories. The only downside to this is that the wire patterns bases on the three different levels can have quite large holes in them so some of the smaller products can fall through, I tend to make sure they will fit but alternatively you could cut some patterned card to shape and place it into the bases.

This is where I store all of my make-up. I have been very good recently at sorting it out and it actually all fits into these three sets of drawers. I bought is one on sale from Dunelm Mill for around £12 I think. I like the fact that I can take the drawers out and take all the products I need up to my mirror. The bag on top is just a gift bag from Benefit that I use to store all my recent purchases that I want to try out.

I hope that I've given you some ideas if you're thinking of re-arranging your room or just trying to de-clutter a bit. Having most things on show and storing them in the same place has really helped me re-evaluate what I've got and has definitely helped me stop spending silly money on items I already had but didn't realise!
