Accessorising my room...

Hello!

I thought I do a little post today on a few of the things I've done to brighten up my bedroom recently. I've definitely been inspired by some of the gorgeous rooms I see whilst browsing through tumblr.
The colour scheme in my room is fairly simple..whites, creams and golds, although my far wall has Chinese inspired paper on it which was here when I moved in and although it doesn't really match, I still like it.

My most recent purchase has been this lampshade which I purchased from Wilkinsons. I really liked the chandelier design with the dangling crystals and thought it added a bit more sparkle to my room.

I also fancied making my room a tad cosier, as I have wooden floors which can be a little cold on bare feet at this time of year! So I bought myself a cream faux sheepskin rug. It's so soft and yeah sometimes I just lay on it and stroke it...

I also bought these white rose lights and wasn't sure where to put them at first, but I think that they look really pretty wrapped around the end of my bed. What do you think?

And lastly I've had these two photo frames sitting around on my window sill for over a year completely empty. I could never find a photograph small enough to fit in them.
Then a few weeks ago I was having a clear out and found an old calender of Mucha paintings from last year and decided to cut out a few of the selection prints they show on the back. They don't quite fit perfectly but they look prettier than standing empty.

Oops almost forgot one thing that I wanted to show you. It's my £1.50 led flashing stag! I can't lie...I really like it and find it quite mesmerising. It looks pretty evil when it turns red though..devil stag!

Hope you like..and a big *THANK YOU* to all my followers for sticking by me. It means a lot.

Earring storage idea..

Hi!
I just thought I'd share a recent buy with you. I perused the internet for quite a while before settling on this earring holder, as a knew I wanted a white one which would hold studs as well as a few smaller dangly earrings. Once I reduced my earring hoard by about a third I placed them in, which was quite time consuming, but only has to be done once!
I really like it as is rotating and therefore space conscious and I can actually see all the earrings I own, which will hopefully stop me going out and buying similar ones!

If you like it too you can pick it up a similar one here.
This is the same seller I used, although I think they may have ran out of the circular ones. There's still a lot to choose from though if you have a browse.

I'm back!

Hello!
Long time no blog! To be precise it's almost over three months, so a really big apology to the few that may have wondered where I've been.
To be honest I don't have a massive excuse. I think I've just been lacking inspiration recently and having a bit of a mind block. I've also not been shopping a great deal which is very rare occurrence, I think I've just been getting fed up with the cold weather we've been having in the UK of late and it's not been inspiring me to find anything new. (There's only so many jumpers and boots you can buy!) Plus I've recently found out that my job will be finishing in June, so I've been carefully considering the things I buy and not just purchasing things on a whim. But on the plus side I'm hoping that this will allow me to have more time to blog, and not neglect you guys. Now I'm getting back into blogging I've really realised how much I've missed it.

Oh a little up date. I had a massive 6 inches cut off my hair on Friday, after having it long for such a long time I thought it was time for a change and I'm so glad I did. It sounds strange but I actually feel I can do a lot more with my hair at this length, and having a topknot no longer gives me a headache from all that weight! Hope you like it.

I'll be back soon

Hi beauts!
I've finally got round to doing the Versatile Blogger Award which I was awarded to by  the lovely Laura from Pale Girl Reviews. Thanks for choosing me sweetie!

- Let the nominated bloggers know that they have been awarded.
- Add the Versatile Blogger badge to your blog.
My blog has been up and running for around nine months now, so it's probably only polite that you know a few random (and possibly cringe worthy) facts about myself!

Here goes:

1) I played the clarinet when I was younger and got up to grade 5.

2) I'm an only child.

3) I was seriously obsessed with Colin Firth when I was growing up (Pride & Prejudice time, so I was around 6) and I had a scrapbook that I filled with lots of magazine and newspaper cut-outs of him. Called the 'Colin scrapbook'.

4) I've made it my aim recently to try and read  more classic books. My favourite so far has been Dracula.

5) I'm English, Irish & French on my Dad's side and English, Scottish, Spanish & Italian on my Mum's although some of it's quite far back.

6)I was born with very dark brown curly hair, which all fell out and came back bleach blonde and straight, it got gradually darker and wavier in my teens and is now blonde again!

7) I'm a real animal lover and have a rabbit and cat. My new love is micro pigs, I think they are the cutest things!

I'm going to do this slightly differently and tag everyone who would like to share! I'd love it read your random facts!

Bourjois bargains!

Hi ladies,

Just a quick heads up to all you bargain hunters out there! I discovered in Tesco today that many items on their stand were only £3! Plus one of my favourite mascaras ever (liner effect) was also in the deal. I think it usually retails for around £9.50, so this was a nice little discount. I also picked up the volume glamour mascara and 10 hour sleep effect foundation, (which I'm excited to try out) for...you guessed it, £3 each! I even checked on the little customer scanner beforehand in case they'd made an error!

Definitely head down there if you like a bit of Bourjois!

How I achieve wavy hair..

Hello lovelies!

Today I'm going to show you how I get the most out of my wavy hair. My hair is naturally pretty much a mix of everything, colour wise and texture wise. Some parts of my hair, especially at the front are baby blonde and straight, whilst other parts are dark and curly, my hair just doesn't seem to make up its mind on what it wants to do!
So here is how I achieve my wavy look..
Firstly I wash my hair with John Frieda's Curl Around shampoo and conditioner, these are by far the best products I've used to de-frizz and define waves. I then towel dry my hair and turn my head upside down and gently scrunch all over my head, whilst using the diffuser of my hair dryer at a low heat setting. Apologies for the poor pictures, photo taking and blow drying are not the easier things to do together!

Once my hair is around half dry I'll turn my head back up and use some Umberto Giannini Curl Friends Scrunching Jelly, particularly on the ends of my hair, and continue to blow dry with the diffuser until almost dry, then I'll pop on few sprays of Umberto Giannini Natural Curls Styling Spray. I'll also use this as a quick pick me up through out the day.

*Quick tip* for an even curlier look, I'll put my hair in a loose plait over night, let down in the morning, and spritz over with the styling spray.

I hope this was helpful!

My everyday make up...

Hi all!
I thought I'd do a post today on the make up products I typically use everyday. During the week whilst going to work I tend it keep things fairly natural looking and simple, as time is very precious in the morning! But I'm also not one to divert too much from neutral colours anyway and nearly always wear a gold or bronze colour eyeshadow and nude lip. (Although red lipstick is definitely having a moment with me right now!)

So here are the products, as you can see quite a few of them are sample sizes because I like to try out products before I fully commit. Especially when they are a little more expensive.

I forgot to photo these but the first thing I use in the morning are Johnson's face wipes just to take off any excess make up. I then moisturise my face with Superdrug's Vitamin E cream, it's nothing too fancy but I've been using it for around two years and it really suits my skin. I then put on a small amount of Benefit's "that gal" face primer to set my make up and apply my foundation(s).
Currently I'm using Max Factor lasting performance in 100 fair, as it's one of the few foundations that is light enough for my winter skin tone, and occasionally I'll mix it with my Clinique Superbalanced Foundation in alabaster.
Next I'll try to tackle my stubborn under eye circles with both YSL's touche éclat and Soap & Glory's "trick and treatment". I know this product is a bit of a miss with some beauty bloggers, but I actually really like it and finds that it hides my dark circles well. I then apply my blusher which currently is "life's a peach" by Sleek, and lastly Benefit's High Beam to illuminate my cheek and brow bones.
Next I'll fill in any gaps in my eyebrows with the HD brows kit and move onto my eyes, where I've been using the "nude on nude natural look kit" from NYX. It's got some lovely golds and bronzes in it which is perfect for me. Then I'll apply a sweep of gel eyeliner, my current favourite is from Collection (2000) and then lastly, I'll curl my eyelashes and pop on "bad gal lash" mascara from Benefit.

*Make up tools used= Real Techniques buffing and contour brushes, Max Factor blusher brush and No7 eyelash curler*

Here is the finished product, a definite improvement from the starting look, and only takes around ten minutes. Please excuse the hat hair in the last photos!!
