Outfit Of The Day 23/09/12

Hi everyone!
I just thought I'd do a quick post on the outfit I wore today. Nothing too special, but I'm secretly happy that it's getting cooler because autumn is my favourite time of year for fashion and I get to wear boots, and scarves and jackets! I also picked up some absolute bargains in the New Look sale today so I'll do a post on those soon!

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend!

imPRESS Press-on Manicure Review

Hello!

I recently purchased these press-on nails on an absolute whim, I was in Asda and saw them on the corner of an aisle and decided I had to have them. I think I've only worn false nails about three times in my life so it was quite an unusual purchase for me!
I mainly decided to get them because:
1) For some reason certain nails just wont seem to grow recently, they've become quite brittle and flaky with exception to my little and ring finger, strange huh!
2) I saw them in the french manicure design and as hard as I try and can NEVER get perfect lines when I attempt this myself with nail varnish, so I thought why not cheat a little bit!

I purchased these for £7, which yes I thought was a little steep, but I suppose curiosity and wanting my nails to look a bit prettier than they actually do got the better of me!

The product is packaged within a big nail varnish bottle which I thought was really cute and within there you get 24 nails with the adhesive strip attached on the back of each, a preparation wipe, and a small nail file.

So here are my rather embarrassing before-hand nails. They look quite dull as I used the preparation wipe, which I guess removes any excess oil to help the nails stick better. You're also advised to wash your hands thoroughly with soap before application.

The next step involved me sorting out the correct sizes for my nails, now I have to say these nails are SHORT, which means you really have to file down your own nail to get a good fit and no visibility. There pack does provide a good range of sizes, however I couldn't find one to perfectly fit my thumb nails, I guess I'm just a bit abnormal and it's rather wide and long!

It does advise on the pack to place all your chosen nails in order before application and do your thumb and index finger last, which I would definitely recommend as it can get slightly fiddly! As you can see from the photo below each nail has an adhesive strip attached which you simply peel off and then place on your nail, and make sure you press down firmly. I held my for 30 seconds which seemed to work quite well.

So here is the finished product, I was very 'impressed' with how they turned out! The quality of the nails is really good, very shiny and hard-wearing and the don't feel loose at all. Also the fact that they are short means that certain tasks like texting and undoing buttons aren't a problem! The only downside as you can probably see from the last photo, is that the one on the thumb nail is slightly too small so you can see part of my natural nail.
Would I re-purchase? Yes definitely but I think only for a special occasion as they are a little expensive for my to justify regular use!

Outfit of the day 09/09/12

Hi everyone! I just thought I'd do a quick outfit of the day. Firstly apologies for the poor quality of the photos, I've had a major disaster camera-wise and have had two memory cards break on me in the space of a week, so ipad camera it is for the time being! I've had a lovely day in the sunshine today, but sadly I think that this weekend may have been some of the last days of summer, so I thought I'd make the most of it and wear a dress that I haven't had chance to wear all season!
Hope you've all had a good weekend!

H&M discount code!

Hi all! I've just been doing a bit of online shopping and wanted to share this code I found. I've been eyeing up a couple of items in H&M recently but for a girl who really doesn't like to pay for shipping, (it just makes my bargain feel less of a bargain!) this code was amazing.

'0142' not only gets you FREE SHIPPING but a lovely 10% off full price items too! Valid until 9th September.

Enjoy! x

A couple of things...

Hi!
I just thought I'd show you a couple of things that I picked up from Matalan recently. I originally went in there to take a look at their jewellery, as I really like a lot of their pieces -Topshopesque at a fraction of the price. But unfortunately my local store seems to have dramatically cut down their stock so I didn't end up getting any. However I did pick up two items...

The first item was a tan waist belt with a horse buckle for £3, I'm absolutely loving anything animal related at the moment, and thought this was a real bargain. Secondly I fell in love with this scarf. I'll admit I most definitely have a scarf obsession and do not need anymore, but what can I say, It felt like autumn yesterday, and I was cold and caught off guard, and desperately needed something to keep my neck warm! I think that's a valid excuse (maybe!)
Also I really love the print, I know it's a bit grannyish, something old ladies would wear as their headscarves, but I like it! Does anyone know what it's called, if it even has a name?

Hope you all had a great bank holiday, despite the weather!

Recent Purchases!

Pink goblets
I picked these up in a charity shop for £2, I was originally going to use them for putting desserts in, but now I think they're too pretty to be stored in the kitchen and only used occasionally, so I might use them to store jewellery or make up in instead.

Black bow bag
I picked this up in Primark for £8, it's just a pretty standard bag that I think will go with most things, and look smart. I also like the fact that you can use it as a shoulder bag and a clutch.

Moustache bracelet
I've been wearing this almost everyday since I bought it! I just think it's really cute and I wanted some simple arm jewellery for work which doesn't feel too heavy. I picked it up from River Island for £2.

Technic nail varnish in Carnival
This really is a carnival in a nail varnish bottle! I've been lusting over  OPI's version of this for a while, but this is a great dupe and for £1.95, what's not to love!? I bought this one from Ebay and the link is here if you want to check it out.

Product Review: Collection 2000 lasting colour gel eyeliner

I've been using my previous liquid eyeliner for possibly a little too long, so decided to purchase myself a  brand new one. I've wanted to try a gel eyeliner for a while now so snapped this one up at Tesco where it was on offer at a pound cheaper than usual (£3.99.)

I've been really impressed with it so far, it has a really nice consistency which glides onto the eyelid using the special brush really easily. I'm definitely not the best at keeping my hand steady when applying eyeliner, but as the product is a little thicker I find it less easy to make mistakes.

The product also claims to last 12 hours, and let me tell you, it has stayed on all day with no smudges! Even though  today's been pretty hot and humid! (25°c)

I would definitely buy this product again, they do have some other colours in the range, a gold, brown, purple and teal which I may also try if I'm feeling a bit more adventurous!
